Blog vs. Website

For a small business owner, deciding on a web design company can be an overwhelming task.  You likely have one sales rep after another knocking on your door trying to convince you that they are the best.  They'll throw random terms at you such as "SEO" and "PPC."  With a limited budget, it can be really difficult to determine who to go with.  The one thing you do know for sure, however, is that you want more business and you need a website that will provide a showcase of your work.

Did you know that for a fraction of the cost of a website, you can have a blog designed to look like a website?  The great thing about blogs is that they have SEO (or Search Engine Optimization) built right it.  Search Engines such as Google and Bing rank your site in their listings depending on a set of algorithims that they determine.  One of the main factors that will determine your ranking is the content on your site.  These search engines will continue to raise your rankings if you have new content on your site because they see the it is a valuable resource for information.  So, by setting up your website using a blogging platform, you have the ability to quickly and easily update your content.  You also have a quick way to add seach engine terms by adding "labels" to your posts.

If you've ever tried setting up a website on your own, you know it can be a headache to have a separate hosting company.  Another great feature of a blog-based site is that you can purchase your domain through them at a minimal cost and the yearly hosting charge is still free.
